With the objective of poverty elimination through effective land use and management, the Centre of Sustainable Rural Development (SRD) cooperating with Phu Tho Union of Science and Technology Association (PUSTA) has implemented the project “Land use and management in Phu Tho” which lasts about 3 years with total budget of EU$179.929,7 sponsored by Manos Unidas organization (Spain). The project will focus on improving the capability of farmers especially women and poor pople as well as local authority of six areas in three communes such as Vinh Phu, Tram Than and Bao Thanh in Phu Ninh district (Phu Tho) in managing land use rights, livelihood and community
In Jan 2010, SRD and PUSTA reached agreement to implement the project VM021. The ceremony was organized under the witness of representatives of local authorities and beneficiaries of six selected areas. Accordingly, Board of project management and Board of development are established to manage and implement appropriate activities in selected areas.
Initial activities to enhance the capability of above two board’s members are organized. Accordingly, members acquired necessary skills to assist farmers to establish and manage interest groups.
According to the plan, within June 2010, investigation of local land use plan will be organized, based on which appropriate actions will be taken to assist farmers.
