Capacity building

Capacity building - Decisive factor to success

In order to achieve our mission of supporting poor rural communities to sustainably manage their own livelihoods, SRD considers building capacity for staff and partners a significant and important task. A strategic plan for capacity building for staff has been developed and implemented with three main strategies: (i) conduct training for local authorities, partners and communities; ii) organize specific training and workshops for SRD staff; (iii) participate in training, workshops, and forums held by international and national organizations/networks..
Strategy (i) - building staff capacity by providing training activities for local authorities, partners and communities - has been determined as a key factor for SRD. We formed a group of acting trainers to provide training services to project partners. Currently, the trainers provide training courses on agriculture, disaster management, climate change, community development, communications and advocacy.
We also provide regular training sessions for staff based on their training needs; for example workshops on value chains, conflict resolution and management, monitoring and evaluation, and HIV/AIDS prevention.
SRD has an ongoing commitment to continue our focus on developing the capacity of our staff. We aim to strengthen our training services, in order to improve the capacity of SRD's project stakeholder, and to provide more training services for other networks and organizations.
