Mr Truong Quoc Can Joined SRD in November 2011 as the Communication, Research and Advocacy Manager, after completing his 10 year service in Vietnam Academy of Agricultural Sciences (VAAS) and 7 year as senior staff of Action Aid in Vietnam (AAV). He obtained Master of Science degree from The University of The Philippines in 2003, majored in Agronomy.
Can possesses more than 18 year experience of direct engagement and coordinating researches on technical and social aspects, in various issues relating to poverty analysis, rural development, education, agriculture, climate change, seed technology....He also has long experiences in management of development projects/programmes, in designing strategic plan for long term development programmes and mid-term projects.
With more than 15 years experience in designing, delivery of trainings and coaching on different aspects including: Rights Based Approaches in development, Participatory Training Methods, Learner Centered Education, Education and Community Development (Reflect) approach, Participatory Rural Appraisals, Participatory Vulnerability Analysis (PVA), Participatory Project Monitoring and Evaluation (PM&E), Community Based Disaster Risk Management (CBDRM), Climate Change, and on Sustainable development/livelihoods/agriculture.
Can has been actively engaging in different policy analysis and policy development forums in relation to education, poverty reduction, Climate change, both at national and international level.... successfully advocated for the adaption of contextualised textbooks in primary school at provincial level, adoption of the local network for strengthening Community Learning Center (CLC) at provincial level, and officialisation of the Reflect approach in Adult Education at national level, Literacy and Community Development Programme in Vietnam recognised by UNESCO as good practice for adult literacy. He also has strong experience in networking, including support on network formation, advisory to different networks of NGOs and Youth.
