Ms. Vu Thi Bich Hop was elected by staff to be the Executive Director at SRD's establishment in March 2006.
Prior this time, Hop worked for international NGOs for more than 10 years; at Action Aid, SIDI, and CIDSE. For nine of these years, she was a senior manager, and was appointed as the Joint Representative of CIDSE in 2005.
Hop holds a B.A. in Economics from the National Economics University, Hanoi, Vietnam (1983), aPost-graduate Diploma in Development Planning Techniques, Institute of Social Studies, The Hague, The Netherlands (1993), and a Doctorate degree from a joint Vietnamese and United States Education Program.
As the Executive Director of SRD, Hop was also elected as the Chair of the Vietnamese NGO and climate change network (VNGO&CC) which consists of more than 50 Vietnamese NGOs. She is also the Chair of the Alliance of seven Vietnamese NGO networks of hundreds NGOs.
Before joining the NGO sector, Hop worked for more than 10 years at The National Institute for Science & Technology Strategy and Policy Studies in Hanoi (NISTPASS) where she worked on information documentation as well as socio-economic and rural development studies. Hop also served as National Program Officer for the UNDP, and a Sociology and Gender Consultant for an ADB Feasibility Study Mission on Coastal Aquaculture in Vietnam.
Hop was nominated to join a number of highly qualified training courses for NGO managers and leaders, five of which were held by INTRAC at Oxford University in the United Kingdom.
