COMMUNITY LEARNING PLAYGROUND FOR CHILDREN WITH DISABILITIES
On March 17th, 2019, the Centre for Sustainable Rural Development (SRD) in collaboration with the parents group having
Children with Disabilities (CwD) and People with Disabilities Club (PwD) in Gio My commune, Gio Linh district, organized a
"Community learning playground for children with disabilities".
There were 20 CwD and their parents participated. This is an opportunity for CwD to make friends and play with each other
for better physical and mental health exercise. The playground also built a "bridge" to help parents with CwD have opportunities
to exchange, share and help each other in daily life. Mrs. N.T.L, the parents group leader of Gio My commune said: "I often find
our children really shy, but today I am surprised to see their big difference of activeness and excitement in participating in the
games. We will organize more activities and support other parents groups of CwD in implementing similar activities for CwDs,
to build their confidence".
"Community learning playground for children with disabilities" is an activity within the framework of the project
"Empowering People with Disabilities" VM064, funded by Caritas Australia and Department of Foreign Affairs and
Trade of Australia through the Center for Sustainable Rural Development (SRD).
