In 2015, Vietnamese government is negotiating a VPA with the EU on Forest Law Enforcement, Governance and Trade. The agreement will impose multiple impacts on small business households in wood supply chain. Therefore, SRD teamed up with the VNGO-FLEGT Network and conducted research to assess the capacity of households to comply with timber legality requirements in Binh Dinh province
The baseline study identified the initial state of vulnerable group in wood supply chain and their capacity to comply with the timber legality requirements in the Vietnamese VPA. The studies will be the basis for the VPA/FLEGT independent monitoring by civil society.
