The Centre for Sustainable Rural Development (SRD), a Vietnamese non-government organization (VNGO), is committed to empower disadvantaged communities in rural and mountainous areas to adapt to changing environments, and to manage sustainably livelihood systems in an equal and compassionate society.
Founded in 2006, SRD has conducted nearly 50 projects with the main focus on sustainable agriculture, rural livelihoods, climate change, local governance and pro-poor policy advocacy. SRD is a founding member and the chair of major national networks including the VNGO&CC, VNGO-FLEGT and an active member of many other national/regional networks and policy forums.

We are currently looking for one full-time Vietnamese intern, supporting for SRD's Communications Department. The internship placement will be based at SRD office in Hanoi with frequent travel in Northern and Central provinces.

Qualification requirement:
1. Bachelor degree or Post-graduate student,
2. English fluency is mandatory;
3. Good at communication skills;
4. Good in translating and experience in English interpreting;
5. Basic skill in photography;
6. Basic skill in film editing, designing is much preferable;
7. Willing to frequently travel to project sites and commit to work in development, non-profit fields.

The project "Strengthening FLEGT process through active CSOs' participation" (Project Code VM051), funded by EU program and SRD, is scheduled for the years 2014- 2016. The project addresses strengthening forest governance and legal timber in the context of FLEGT enforcement and VPA negotiation. From 2015 to 2016, the project has conducted a GIS training workshop to identify, analyze and use spatial data for advocacy purposes to benefit vulnerable forest communities.

In order to continue with capacity building in GIS the project will use a case study to determine the extent to which data on forest types, use and access rights corresponds to estimates of forest types and extent derived from satellite imagery and from field consultation, the project is recruiting an expert team leader to support a the GIS case study: forest cover mapping in ĐakAng commune, Ngoc Hoi.

The expert is required with the experience and qualifications as follows

1. The consultant should have master degree in forestry or equivalent;
2. At least 10-years' experience in that field.
3. Have experience using GIS, analyzing database, mapping forest cover from satellite imagery and official data.
4. Experiences working in the area that the activity takes place.
5. Have knowledge in FLEGT field is an advantage.

The Vietnam Forest and Deltas Program (VFD) is funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), through the coordination of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD), with technical assistance from a consortium of NGO partners led by Winrock International in partnership with SNV – Netherlands Development Organization (SNV), American Red Cross (ARC), Vietnam Red Cross (VNRC) and Centre for Sustainable Rural Development (SRD).
The VFD has identified local non-governmental organizations (LNGOs) have an important role in awareness and skills raising activities for local communities on environmental management and adaptation to climate change. VFD allocated budget to support capacity building for LNGOs. Starting in 2014 SRD has been assigned to implement these activities such as needs assessment on climate change capacity building, the formation of LNGOs working groups in the Red River Delta, Northern Central and Southern provinces. These groups have formed a operation mechanism and capacity building work plan , opportunities to link with VFD activity.
Currently the Provincial REDD + Action Plan (PRAP) drafts of Nghe An and Thanh Hoa were developed by the Departments of Agriculture and Rural Development and are now in the process of obtaining consultations from experts, organizations, concerned communities and expect for an approval in the second quarter of 2016. To ensure PRAPs of Nghe An and Thanh Hoa apart from achieving deforestation and forest degradation reduced, it can be expected to ensure the drives of benefits to the local forest-dependent communities, the VFD is planned to improve LNGOs in Nghe An and Thanh Hoa to participate in consultation process of PRAP development in respectively provinces.
SRD-VFD is looking for a chief trainer to facilitate 2 days training workshop on PRAP consultation skills for North central region LNGOs members to be held in Nghe An.
The Consultant is required with the experience and qualifications as follows:
1. Qualification in the field of forestry from Master upward;
Experience working in REDD+, Climate Chain Adaption, Sustainable forest management
2. Experience in PRAP building/consultation activity;
3. At least 5 years' experience enhanced in facilitating training workshops
4. Experience working as a consultant, in collaboration with non-governmental organizations.

The Ethnic Minorities Working Group (EMWG) was formed in 2002, under the VUFO-NGO Resource Centre with the aim of providing a forum for Vietnamese non-governmental organizations (NGOs), international INGOs, international organizations, Government agencies and interested individuals to exchange ideas and lessons learned about good practices of development projects for the benefit of ethnic minorities. Importantly, the EMWG is also to engage in policy dialogues to advocate for improvements of policies targeting ethnic minority communities.

Qualification requirement:

Bachelor or higher degree in Accounting, Finance or other relevant subjects;

At least five years of professional experience in accounting, project financial management, fundamental controllership are required

Knowledge of generally accepted accounting practices and principles.

Good knowledge of auditing practices and principles

Experience in the management of financial systems and budgets, financial reporting, financial data analysis, auditing, taxation (VAT & PIT);

Good knowledge of Vietnamese laws on labor, social & health insurance and personal income tax and other relevant applicable laws, codes and regulations

Fluency in both written and spoken English required.

 Good computer skills of Excel, Words, PowerPoint, and especially of the accounting computer software applications, preferably ACCPAC software;

The USAID Vietnam Forest and Deltas Program, is being implemented from 2013 to 2018 through Winrock International, the Netherlands Development Organisation (SNV), American Red Cross, Vietnam Red Cross and Centre for Sustainable Rural Development. The  "Vietnamese non-governmental organizations towards ethnic minority communities’ livelihood in northern mountainous” project (coded VIE 65504/VM037), funded by Manos Unidas (Spain), has been carried out for 3 years from July 2011 to June 2014 in 06 communes of 4 districts within the 3 provinces of Phu Tho , Hoa Binh and Thai Nguyen. It is a joint project implemented by the Center for Sustainable Rural Development (SRD), the Centre for Research and Development in Uplands Areas (CERDA) and the Centre for Sustainable Development in Mountainous Areas (CSDM). In this consortium, SRD takes on the role of coordinator and is responsible to the Vietnam Union of Scientific and Technology Association (VUSTA) and the project donors; CERDA and CSDM are partners who co-implemented the project with SRD.

The Centre for Sustainable Rural Development (SRD), in compliance with Caritas Australia’s requests and expectations, recognizes that a child protection policy is a necessary tool in assuring that any child who may be involved in, or affected by, our work is protected.

Established in 2008, the Vietnamese Non-governmental Organizations and Climate Change Network (VNGO&CC) now consists of over 100 members located throughout Vietnam. The network’s activities aim to support Vietnam’s Government in increasing the climate change adaptation and resilience capacity of poor communities.

In 2014, with the financial support from the Australian Department of Foreign Affair and Trade (formerly known as AusAID), the network has implemented thet “Strengthening the roles of VNGOs in climate change communications and advocacy”project. As the head of VNGO’s steering committee, SRD is going to organize a  “Climate change advocacy” workshop for representatives from the network’s member organizations. This position falls under the Vietnam Forest and Deltas Program (VFD) funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), through the coordination of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) with technical assistant from a consortium of NGOs partners led by Winrock International. It is also in partnership with SNV – Netherlands Development Organization (SNV), American Red Cross (ARC), Vietnam Red Cross (VNRC) and Centre for Sustainable Rural Development (SRD). 

The Vietnam Forest and Deltas Program has three major components: (1) Sustainable Landscapes with a focus on mitigation of greenhouse gas emissions from the forestry sector; (2)  Adaptation  with a focus on addressing long-term climate change risks in Vietnam’s two major river deltas and; (3) Coordination and National Policy development and implementation support.

VFD considers changing individual behavior and community practices to be the foundation for a holistic approach of interventions and bring long lasting achievements on mitigating green house gas emissions, as well as improving community resilience to climate change impacts. During the project cycle, various communication campaigns and awareness raising activities will be conducted. These communication campaigns will aim to raise the awareness of issues relating to climate change adaptation and sustainable landscape in the targeted provinces including Nghe An, Thanh Hoa and Nam Dinh. As established in an MOU with donor MANOS UNIDAS  in Auhust 2013, the  “PARTICIPATORY LAND USE AND MANAGEMENT - PLUM IN THAI NGUYEN AND PHU THO PROVINCES PHASE II” - PLUM II project will be implemented from 1st September, 2013 to August, 2016.

One important objective of the project is sustainable livelihood improvement, which applies a Value Chain approach to support poor people and women. The value chain approach will be used as the main tool to identify and develop the most effective products produced by people in both the Phu Ninh district of Phu Tho province and the Phu Luong district of Thai Nguyen province. The results of the value chain study will be presented in a document with at least five different potential products for five communes in the project area. The value chain study will be carried out in 5 communes (3 communes in the Phu Luong district of Thai Nguyen province and 2 communes in the Phu Ninh district of Phu Tho province).

Project (VM031) "Community-based disaster risk reduction and climate change adaptation in Huong Tra town, Thua Thien Hue province" has been implemented by SRD in collaboration with the People's Committee of Hai Duong and Huong Phong commune, Thua Thien Hue province from March 2011 to June 2014. Project "Community-based Disaster Risk Mitigation and Climate Change Adaptation", implemented by SRD in Hai Duong and Huong Phong Commune, Huong Tra town, Thua Thien Hue with funding from Caritas Australia, has gained positive achievements in pilotting climate-adapted models.

One of the main objectives of the project is to document successful climate change adaptation initiatives within the project scope in the project site. Child abuse is a global problem and can occur in forms of physical, psychological, emotional, and sexual abuse. We are currently looking for a qualified candidate to fill the position of Communications Officer, based in Hanoi with frequent travels to the project sites. SRD offers good opportunities for working, learning and sharing within the dynamic Team of SRD.This position will be working under the supervision and reporting to Deputy Director in charge of Communications, Research and Advocacy department.
