On November 27th, 2019, in Tam Ky city, Quang Nam province, SRD collaborated with the Provincial Agricultural Extension Center to the final workshop for the project, "Improving the livelihoods of poor people in Phu Ninh district, Quang Nam province through medical plants and market development”. The workshop attracted more than 70 members of local government, sponsors, businesses, media and local farmers. The products made from solanum procumbens of the farmers in the project area are also on display at the market networking event. Although this is a small-scale pilot project, it has encouraged the farmers to learn more about sustainable livelihood development and environmental protection through the development of medicinal plants. From the training, farmers have learned how to tame the wild trees in their home gardens and are more confident applying techniques to plant, care and harvest solanum procumbens and red turmeric. Ms. Vu Thi Bich Hop, Chairwoman of the BOT and Executive Director, expressed her happiness because after participating in the project, farmers have taken the first step towards sustainable livelihoods and environmental protection. Ms. Hop also gave her sincere appreciation to the Agricultural Extension Center of Quang Nam Province and local authorities for their facilitation and implementation of the project.
