On March 10, 2021, the Centre for Sustainable Rural Development (SRD) held a meeting to provide information for interested organisations with the participation of 11 members (including 3 participated online) of the Network of Vietnamese NGOs on EVFTA (VNGO-EVFTA), Network of Vietnamese NGOs on FLEGT (VNGO-FLEGT) and other organisations that are interested in EVFTA. At the meeting, SRD had shared information, orientated, clarified research topics, and answered questions of the participants on the process and selection criteria.
The researches are expected to be conducted and completed before August 2021 to provide an overall assessment and on-site data to detect problems in forest governance, the wood supply chain, in environmental and social issues that directly and indirectly related to the supply chain in the context of implementing EVFTA. Thereby, these researches propose policy recommendations with SRD in consultation with stakeholders such as the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, the Ministry of Industry and Trade and local agencies such as DARDs in key provinces in the wood supply chain, as well as providing information, recommendations to the DAGs group and the Joint Implementation Committee (JIC).
The participants appreciated the input provided as well as the transparency and fairness in the selection process for 03 research organisations.
