To day is the International Day of People with Disability. This year's theme is "Leadership and participation of persons with disabilities toward an inclusive, accessible and sustainable post-COVID-19 world".
Thanks to the funding support of Caritas Australia (CA), the Australian Government Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT), the Centre for Sustainable Rural Development (SRD) has been in partnership with the People's Committee of Gio Linh district providing support to more than 2000 people with disabilities (PwDs), children with disabilities (CwDs) and their caregivers through the "Empowering People with Disabilities" project. The project focused on physical and mental wellbeing, capacity building in responding to natural disasters, job and educational opportunities as well as livelihoods development for adults and children living with disabilities. From 2012 up to now, the project has established 12 groups and clubs for PwDs with 739 members and 8 groups of CwDs' parents with 116 members in 10 project communes.
