“Using the Terra-I System to monitor the change of vegetation cover near real-time is consistent with the trend of the current 4.0 revolution" that is the affirmation of Mr. Nguyen Khac Lam, Deputy Head director of Nghe An REDD + program, Director of Nghe An Forest Protection and Development Fund at the Conference "Using the vegetation cover change monitoring system (Terra-I) for social organizations and local communities" held in Vinh City, Nghe An Province on May 8, 2019. This workshop was organized within the framework of the project to empower social organizations and local communities to effectively participate in the Emission Reduction Program of the North Central Coastal region, funded by the World Bank through the Asian Agriculture and Natural Resources Network (ANSAB) Nepal, and implemented by the Center for Sustainable Rural Development (SRD). At the Conference, participants were introduced to the idea of developing an Independent Monitoring forest change Mechanism using Terra-I technology for social organizations and local communities (FCIM); preconditions and gaps for local social organizations and communities to participate in monitoring forest change; Design and operation of the Terra-I System. After the workshop, Nghe An Forest Protection and Development Fund will consider applying Terra-I in monitoring payment for forest environmental services.
