On October 25th and 26th 2018, the Centre for Sustainable Rural Development (SRD), in collaboration with the Gio Linh District People's Committee, organized a training workshop on "Asset based community development - ABCD " for members of the People with Disability Club (PwD club). This was an activity for the "Empowering People with Disabilities" project, funded by Caritas Australia and the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT), implemented in Gio Linh district, Quang Tri province.
In order to better understand the ABCD methodologies, trainers and trainees shared their own experiences about the project area. "Solidarity", "enthusiasm", "financial transparency", and "sustainable funding" are a few of the significant strengths of PwD clubs. In addition, members of the clubs have identified their resources: Finance, human resources, facilities, natural and social conditions. As a result, clubs will have a clearer plan to use these resources to "recruit more club members", "improve the capacity of members", "subordinates teams to work effectively ", and to "replicate effective livelihood models".
At the end of the workshop, the participants had a clearer understanding of the ABCD methodology, which would be the approach applied in the Phase III of "Empowering the People with Disabilities" project.
