An overview of the workshop
From 23-27 December 2020, SRD representatives have attended the Free, Prior, and Informed Consent (FPIC) workshop in Danang, organized by the People and Nature Reconciliation (PanNature) and The Center for People and Forests (RECOFTC). The workshop is part of the project “Increasing the participation of NGOs in improving forest governance in the Mekong region - #V4MF” funded by the European Union (EU) and implemented in Vietnam by PanNature, RECOFTC, and World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF).
The workshop was organized to form a team of trainers to participate in capacity building activities for stakeholders in forestry and local community development. At the event, SRD representatives and trainees from Forest Management Boards and local forest protection agencies were given basic knowledge and understanding about FPIC as well as gain experience working with communities on participatory natural resource management by putting FPIC into practice.
