On 18 April 2018, the Center for Sustainable Rural Development (SRD) in collaboration with Gio Linh District People's Committee, Gio Hải Commune People's Committee and nearly 250 people with disabilities (PwDs) and their families from Gio Mỹ, Gio Hải, Trung Hải, Trung Sơn Communes and Gio Linh District, Quảng Trị Province celebrated the Vietnamese Day for People with Disability. With the theme of "Towards a socially inclusive society without barriers for PwDs", the event hold numerous meaningful and exciting cutural and sport activities for PwDs. Everyone expressed excitement and enthusiasm while fully felt "blend in".
Mr. Duong Duc Hanh, Vice Chairman of Gio Linh District People's Committee, Chair of the Project Steering Committee shared, "Many PwDs have became confident and continually contribute to the society, as well as being a good example for others. This is a practical activity that enhances the solidarity spirit while helping PwDs and communities accomplish their individual duties as well as local authority tasks."
This activity belongs to the "Empowering People with Disabilitites in Quảng Trị Province" Project, funded by Caritas Australia and implemented by SRD in 5 project areas in Quảng Trị Province.
